The Health Topic Modules component of the Curriculum Analysis page allows the user to choose between an analysis based on individual health topic modules over one or more grade spans (e.g., 3–5; 6–8), or a “Comprehensive Curriculum” that includes multiple grade spans and health topic modules with cross-module comparisons. This is known as the “Focus” of the curriculum analysis.
For further information on compiling a comprehensive curriculum analysis, see the Using HECAT Online to Analyze Comprehensive Health Education (CHE) Curriculum document found in a link on the Curriculum Analysis page.
For a new curriculum analysis project, the user must select the focus of the analysis. Once the choice is selected, and the SAVE FOCUS SELECTION button is pressed, the user will proceed to select the appropriate health topic modules. The user can change focus of the analysis later by pressing the CHANGE FOCUS button.
When a comprehensive curriculum analysis focus is selected, the next step is to select the desired grade spans of the curriculum that will be used for all health topic modules. Once this is done, press the SAVE GRADE SELECTIONS button. From this point, two or more health topic modules must be selected for the analysis.
After choosing an individual module focus, one or more health topic modules can be selected for the analysis. Grade span selection will be made for each module. For further information on health topic modules, see the OVERVIEW OF MODULES link on the Health Topic Modules section of the Curriculum Analysis page and the Forms menu.
